Text messaging & consent

Last updated July 15, 2026

LedgerOS is the practice-management platform used by accounting and CPA firms to run their client work. This page explains the account and service text messages a firm sends to the people it works with, how those people agree to receive them, and how to stop at any time.

Who these messages are for

Recipients are the staff and clients of an accounting firm that already has a working business relationship with them. A firm only messages people it is actively serving — for example, a client whose tax return or books the firm is preparing. LedgerOS does not send marketing or promotional texts through this program, and phone numbers are never sold or shared with anyone outside the firm.

What a firm sends

  • Document requests
A note that the firm needs paperwork or that an organizer is ready to fill out.
  • E-signature reminders
A reminder that an engagement letter or form is waiting to be signed.
  • Payment reminders
A notice that an invoice from the firm is due or that a payment was received.
  • Deadline & status notifications
Updates on filing deadlines, or a note that work on the account has moved forward.

How people opt in

Once a firm invites someone, that person creates an account and signs in to their secure LedgerOS portal. On their profile they can add a mobile number and turn on text notifications by checking a consent box. The box is empty until the person checks it — texts are never on by default — and each opt-in is saved with a date and time.

The screen below shows exactly what that consent looks like inside the portal.

The exact consent language

When someone opts in, they agree to this:

“I agree to receive account and service text messages from my accounting firm — document requests, e-signature and payment reminders, and deadline/status notifications. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Privacy: tryledgeros.com/privacy · Terms: tryledgeros.com/terms.”

Stopping messages & getting help

You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP to any message. You'll get one confirmation and then no further texts. To turn them back on later, reply START. For help, reply HELP and you'll get instructions and a way to reach support. You can also manage or turn off text notifications any time from your portal profile.
