Tasks

Work that belongs to a client should not live in one person’s head, or in a separate to-do app the rest of the firm cannot see. A task here is the same object the pipeline board moves, sitting on the client record, carrying its own time.

The LedgerOS task list, showing work grouped by engagement with owners, due dates and subtask counts.

What it does

  • Subtasks, an owner, a due date, and whether it is billable
  • Templates for the work you do the same way every time
  • Time logged straight onto the task, not remembered and re-entered later
  • Work that repeats regenerates itself each period

How it works

Due today means due, not late

A due date is a date on your firm’s clock. Something due today is due; it goes overdue when your own day rolls past it, not when a server somewhere decides. The sidebar badge and the color on the board read the same rule, so they cannot tell you different things.

The checklist arrives complete

A template carries its subtasks, who they go to, and which ones have to be done before the work can move. Apply it and you get the whole shape, gating included — not a list of suggestions.

  • Subtasks marked required gate the task; the rest are non-blocking
  • Templates are shared firm-wide, so seasonal staff inherit the same checklist
  • Applying a template to existing work adds to it rather than replacing it

Questions

Can a task belong to more than one client?
No. A task has one client, which is what makes the client record complete and the reports meaningful.
Do subtasks have their own due dates?
Subtasks carry assignment and required-to-advance status. The date lives on the task, which is the thing the board moves.
