A chatbot with a tax prompt will answer anything, from anywhere, confidently. This reads the IRS and the states and nothing else — then goes back out, re-reads every source it cited, and tells you which ones actually say what the answer claims.
The sources are held per jurisdiction — federal authority, all fifty states and DC — and only the ones for the jurisdictions you picked get searched. Nothing else is even read, so nothing else can end up in the answer. What was searched is printed on it.
